The Structural Suite
Structural design software for 2030
Frozen Peak Solutions is building the Structural Suite: one open platform for structural analysis, design, modelling, drafting and fabrication. People and programs use it in the same way, and anyone can extend it and connect it to the software they already use, so it is ready for how structural design works in 2030.
Nothing is released yet. Five products are in development (frame-analysis, eurocode-calcs, section-analysis, model-convert and notebook), built on 50 shared libraries. Each product is published as open source when it is released.

What we build
Our products share libraries, so each product stays small and every part is reused rather than copied. The libraries page lists the 50 that exist.
-
Engineering
Civil engineering, structural analysis, structural design, electrical engineering and computer engineering.
- Every implemented design-code clause is cited in the source and the documentation
- Results are verified against hand calculations, worked examples and published benchmarks
- Physical quantities carry units, so unit errors are caught at compile time
In development: Frame analysis, Eurocode calculations, Section analysis, Model convert
-
Note taking
A fast knowledge tool for notes, databases and whiteboards that draws on ideas from Notion and Obsidian.
- Notes are stored as plain Markdown files that Obsidian can also open
- Local-first: everything works offline, and sync is optional
- Editing is never lossy: content you did not change is not rewritten
In development: Notebook
Engineering principles
How we build
Every project follows the same eleven principles, in this order. When two of them conflict, the one listed first wins.
-
Plan before building
A change is designed before it is written: the best approach chosen, its effects traced, its risks listed and the next step checked.
-
Correct and finished
A feature is fully implemented, tested and documented, or it is not in the product. Calculation results are verified against hand calculations and published references.
-
Invalid states cannot exist
Data models come first. Input is parsed once, at a named boundary, into types that cannot hold an invalid value.
-
Fast by design
Each product states budgets for startup, response time, memory and size, and benchmarks check them. A slower hot path is a regression.
-
Minimal
Every line, dependency and feature has to earn its place. Dead and duplicated code is deleted.
-
Modular
Small modules with narrow interfaces. Optional features are optional at build time, so you build only what you use.
-
Usable by people and by machines
Anything you can do in the application, a program can do too. The C API, the command-line program with its server for AI agents, and the packages for other languages are generated from one definition, so they cannot drift apart.
-
Readable
Clear names, short functions and plain writing. clang-format and clang-tidy settle style, and warnings are errors.
-
Cross-platform
Windows and Linux are first-class targets. Every project builds and passes its tests with MSVC, GCC and Clang.
-
Open source
Every product is published as open source when it is released. Third-party code is permissively licensed, apart from system libraries that are never shipped, so every licensing option stays open.
-
Secure by default
External input is treated as hostile. Sanitizers and fuzzing cover every parser, and there is no telemetry without opt-in.
Open by default
Open source, and your data stays yours
- Published in the open
- Each product is published as open source when it is released. Design decisions, issues and documentation are written for anyone to read.
- No lock-in
- Your files use open, documented formats, so you can always take your data elsewhere.
- Nothing leaves without your say
- No telemetry unless you turn it on. This website follows the same rule: no cookies, no scripts and nothing loaded from other sites.
